Choosing your SIM Only tariff

O2 is the UK’s leading network in the UK and their popularity is well deserved. O2 offers a wide range of plans specifically designed to suit the needs of smartphone users.

You can also choose from a variety of data packages to suit your needs including 1-month and 12-month contracts.

There are other advantages to being with O2, which are definitely worth considering. A popular promotion is Priority Moments where you get exclusive offers and experiences such as shopping discounts. Priority Tickets is a fantastic way to be the first to get tickets to your favourite sports events, gigs and concerts.

What about Internet?

The majority of O2 customers choose 1GB of data, which is sufficient for average use. Once you've reached your data allowance and exceed it, your connection will either be throttled or stopped. This can be annoying to say the least but could also be a good thing so you don't get charged excessively. You can purchase an additional data Bolt-on should you require normal service until your next billing period.

Are you a high data user? Your best option is O2’s premium 4G tariff. This provides up to 8GB of data for just £28 p/mth.

SIM Only Contract’s top tip:

The cheapest O2 SIM Only is £10 p/mth on a 12-month contract. This includes 250MB of data and 250 minutes of talktime. It isn't as cheap as other networks but still offers reasonable value. If you are looking for more data then we recommend a tariff in the £15 to £20 range.

The Good

I like: On O2 SIM Only 12-month contracts, you can upgrade your phone 1 month earlier than a 30-day contract.

The Bad

I don’t like: The data allowances with O2 are very much on the low side and don't match up with the high usage of many smartphone users today. There are cheaper options available with more inclusive data. Take a look at deals from Three, Virgin, Vodafone, BT and Plusnet.
